Transcranial Magnetic stimulation (TMS) For depression

What is TMS?

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is an FDA-approved non-invasive treatment for drug and psychotherapy resistant depression that uses quick external electromagnetic pulses to stimulate neuronal circuits in the brain. It has been proven to be an effective treatment for Major Depressive Disorder, with many patients seeing results within a matter of weeks. At Psychiatry Physicians Group, we use a CloudTMS machine and deliver the FDA-approved 10 Hz treatment protocol for 19 mins/day for a total of 36 sessions. Typically, the course takes around 7 weeks.

Is TMS right for you?

For patients that have tried multiple medications with limited to no response, or with intolerable side effects, TMS can be a helpful intervention. It is non-invasive with minimal side effects, covered by most insurances, and offered on-site at Psychiatry Physicians Group. If you are on medications with a partial response, TMS can be an excellent augmenting treatment as well.

Will insurance cover TMS?

Most insurances cover TMS for Major Depressive Disorder for patients who have already tried medications with a limited response or with intolerable side effects.

What is the process for doing TMS?

Once you've confirmed TMS is right for you by speaking to a doctor or attending an optional informational session, we will submit a prior authorization form for TMS approval through your insurance.  After insurance has approved, we can schedule your first session.
